"Mail Call"
Emptiness. You stare at the cold wall before you thinking that if you could only break through you could escape this feeling of melancholy. Visions of the past and an unknown future mock you from within, and beyond.
Loneliness. Days go by yet your salvation hasn't come. No way to know what has become of your world. It's as if everyone is in on this horrid plot, keeping you in the dark.
In desperation you do everything you van to break through this wall of self pity. Deep down you know that things will be all right. Still, your efforts at occupying your mind to keep from thinking about them, about her, are futile at best.
Today is another day though. You stare at that wretched wall hoping, praying today will be better. It taunts you mercilessly. Your hopes grow as the time draws near.
Now it is time. You wait eagerly as you watch for your savior to stop at the door. His pace is steady as he strides right by you without so much as a glance in your direction, stack of mail in hand, going everywhere but to you.
You turn away from the door and your head falls as you reclaim the stool you had been sitting upon. That feeling washes over your being once again as you fix your eyes on that wall. Heartache. Emptiness. The same as before.
